About the Role
We are looking for an Automower® / Robotic Mower Specialist to join our Wakefield Service Team, supporting the continued growth of our robotics division.
This is a hands‑on hybrid role, primarily focused on workshop repair, servicing and diagnostics of robotic mowers, with regular on‑site work including installations, site surveys and field repairs at customer locations.
Robotics is a core part of our business, not an add‑on. This role plays a key part in delivering professional installation, repair and after-sales support for domestic and commercial customers across our region.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop‑Based
- Service, repair and fault‑find Husqvarna Automower® and professional robotic mower platforms, including wired and EPOS systems
- Carry out diagnostics, firmware updates and preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer service schedules
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical and software‑related faults using approved tools and systems
- Prepare new machines and refurbished units for installation and customer handover
- Accurately record all work within internal service systems
On‑Site Repairs, Installations & Surveys
- Attend customer sites to carry out on‑site robotic mower repairs, diagnostics and adjustments
- Install and commission robotic mowers, including boundary setup, EPOS reference station placement and system optimisation
- Conduct site surveys to assess layout, ground conditions, signal coverage and installation requirements
- Provide professional customer handovers and after-sales support
- Liaise with internal sales and service teams to ensure a smooth customer experience
(Install, EPOS and service activity is evidenced through current Automower® training and live customer installs at Wakefield)
Training & Development
- Complete and maintain manufacturer training through Husqvarna University and dealer service programmes
- Keep up to date with new robotic mower models, software updates and installation methods
- Develop specialist expertise within a fast‑growing area of professional grounds equipment
About You
This role suits someone who enjoys technical problem‑solving in a workshop, but is equally comfortable working on customer sites.
You might already be working with robotic mowers, battery equipment or electronically controlled machinery — or be a strong technician keen to specialise in robotics.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Mechanical and/or electrical servicing and fault‑finding experience
- Comfortable working both in a workshop and out on customer sites
- Confident using apps, software and connected systems
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering quality work
Desirable (But Not Essential)
- Experience with Husqvarna Automower®, EPOS or robotic mowing systems
- Previous installation or site survey experience
- Background in battery‑powered or electronically‑controlled equipment
(Full manufacturer training is provided)
Why Balmers?
- Established in 1979, with a strong reputation for aftersales and technical expertise
- Husqvarna Pro Dealer for robotics, with Balmers internally recognised as Europe’s number 1 Husqvarna Pro dealer for robotic mowers
- Robotics is a major growth area within the business, offering long‑term development and progression
- Supportive team environment with proper training, tools and dealer backing
Summary
If you’re a technician looking to specialise in robotic mowing technology, combining workshop diagnostics, on‑site repairs and professional installations, this is a role with real future potential.
