With the emphasis firmly on grounds care machinery, you will develop skills and proficiency in a wide range of technical areas, from routine maintenance and servicing through to complex component overhauls utilising the very latest John Deere diagnostic equipment.
Apprentice Turf Technician duties include:
1. Performing basic service tasks & developing skills in removal and reconditioning of components.
2. Progressing to perform more complex service & repair tasks, both at the dealership and out in the field.
3. Assisting qualified Technicians as needed
4. Reporting weekly to a mentor or Service Manager regarding ongoing activities and progression
5. Maintaining the condition of inventory, tools and equipment
6. Following all safety rules and regulations
7. You will learn to use the very latest John Deere equipment, working at the cutting edge of technology
With mentoring, support and monitoring whilst at work, combined with residential training at the John Deere Training Centre, you will gain the knowledge and skills required to achieve the qualification.
Please Note: Off the job training is on a residential basis. All travel, and, accommodation costs are covered by Balmers GM.
What we're looking for:
Vehicles are highly complex, and whilst no formal qualifications are required, you must be literate and numerate, with a desire to learn, and a genuine interest in vehicle technology.
You will be technically minded, practical, logical, able to listen, follow instructions and be willing to study.
Ability to use standard computer applications and internet functions.
Excellent attitude with integrity and honesty.
Able to work as part of a busy, fast moving team.
What we offer:
£166 per week.
40 hours per week: Monday - Friday / 8am - 5pm, plus Saturday rota.
Advanced Level 3 (A Level) - 3 year duration.

As a fully qualified John Deere Turf Technician, you will have access to further development opportunities within the company, extending your skills with additional training in areas such as compressed gas handling, welding, and, abrasive wheels, as well as going on to achieve LTA levels 3 and 4 (Master Technician) qualifications.
