Chipper Servicing Schedule

Minor Service

Annually or every 200 hours (whichever is first)

  • Drain and replace engine oil
  • Replace engine oil filter
  • Replace fuel pre-filter
  • Replace air filters
  • Replace spark plugs (petrol engine)
  • Check hydraulic oil level and condition
  • Check anvils for signs of wear
  • Check the tension of all drive belts and adjust as necessary
  • Check the track drive unit oil (tracked machines)
  • Remove all old grease from the rotor bearings and re-grease
  • Grease the discharge tube mounting flanges
  • Check all nuts, bolts and fasteners for security. Re-tighten to the correct torque settings as necessary
  • Check fuel pipes and clamps for signs of damage
  • Check hydraulic pipes and clamps for signs of damage
  • Check for loose or damaged electrical wiring and re-secure as necessary
  • Sharpen / Grind / Turn blades
  • Towed chipper - basic inspection of trailer systems: lights, wheel bearing play & operation of brakes (drums not removed)
  • Tracked chipper - basic inspection of track unit and tension of tracks

Major Service

Bi-Annually or every 400 hours (whichever is first)

  • Drain and replace engine oil
  • Replace engine oil filter
  • Replace all fuel filters
  • Replace air filters
  • Replace spark plugs (petrol engine)
  • Drain and replace hydraulic oil
  • Replace hydraulic oil filter
  • Replace the track drive unit oil (tracked machines)
  • Check anvils for signs of wear
  • Check the tension of all drive belts and adjust as necessary
  • Check the track drive unit oil (tracked machines)
